Headline: Judge issues injunction on Mentor Graphics (NASDAQ:MENT)

======================================================================
WILSONVILLE, Ore., Aug. 4 (Reuter) - Mentor Graphics
Monday said a U.S. District Court judge granted Quickturn
Design Systems Inc's (NASDAQ:QKTN) motion for a temporary injunction
against Mentor Graphics' U.S. SimExpress activities.
In a statement, the company said the U.S. District Court in
Orgeon ruling temporarily prohibits Mentor Graphics from
manufacturing, assembling, marketing or distributing its
SimExpress product in the United States. The company said the
scope of the temporary ruling is still undetermined.
Earlier, Mentor said a separate ruling made on August 1 by
an Administrative Law Judge to the International Trade
Commission (ITC) would prevent Mentor Graphics from importing
SimExpress, its accelerated verification solution, from its
manufacturing facility in Saclay, France.
Both requests stem from requests made by Quickturn to end
U.S.-based SimExpress competition.
The ITC initial determination is not a final ruling, but
rather is a recommendation to the full ITC. A final decision
in the ITC case regarding importation of SimExpress into the
United States is not expected until late 1997.
Neither ruling has any bearing on the company's non-U.S.
accelerated verification research and development, marketing
and sales activities.
