The incident occurred at 2300 local time Sunday, the company said in a statement posted on its Web site. The intruders entered the office and used angle grinders and jackhammers to gain access to the company's strong room. The security officers on duty were held at gun point and pistol-whipped. Both have been admitted to hospital for observation, the company said. No further details were provided. At 1052 GMT on the JSE Securities Exchange South Africa, DRD shares were trading up 1.5% at ZAR20.35.
