European anti-Semitism is not an invention of the Israelis, now or then, and neither is the absolute double standard with which the world judges the situation -- pointing fingers at the plight of the poor poor Palestinian refugees

Whoa, back up.

Look back through Western sources from 1948 to 1970, and try to find a single remark critical of Israel. You’ll have a hard time. There were almost none. Israel had a 20-year holiday from criticism, during which they were effectively immune. They were the good guys, and all they did was right. For quite a while after that, criticism was limited to the ranks of the professional rebels, people who would support any group with “liberation” in its name.

Before we talk about “European anti-Semitism”, look at that same period and tell us how much criticism of Israel came out of Europe in those days. Those were the days when the Israeli Air Force flew Mirages, remember?

That has changed. It has changed not because the world is dominated by closet anti-Semites, but because a lot of people decided that the Israeli-approved version of history is ridden with as much bullshit as the Palestinian-approved version, and that the Israelis had seriously abused the latitude that they were given. That decision is not so illegitimate as you would like to believe.

But of course, anybody who questions the approved dogma is pro-Palestinian and a raving anti-Semite to boot. So it has been decreed.

Arab countries said to their people, give up democracy and we'll give the Arab/Israeli conflict.

When were the Palestinians, or any Arabs, ever offered that choice?
