Hi Elmat,
Voice is indeed an important wireless app, as noted by Probe. Tell me, doesn't the entire saga of 2.5 and 3.0 now seem like nothing more than what the promise of North American ISDN was some twelve to fifteen years ago? What's happened to ISDN? Well, it's still widely used in a slew of, sometimes esoteric, applications, hidden from Joe Public's view. But for the average residential user ISDN has yielded to the more simplistic forms of transport, which, incidentally, yield higher throughputs at lower prices. Granted, there are things you can do with ISDN that you cannot easily replicate with low grade DSL due to its symmetric profile and isochronous characteristics. Such as synching on a videoconferencing application that requires those attributes. But that too is going the way of the dodo bird, with IP winning more and more of those bids. Do you see some analogies here vis a vis 3G and .11x? How about 4G? And while we're on 4G, what is your take on what 4G wireless will be, in terms of the protocols and air interface profiles that we know of, today?
