You can still search, just use a google site search:

google.com

In the box type:

site:www.siliconinvestor.com

Then after it put your search words

But yeah i agree, no search here sort of hobbles the site.

At least if there is no search, the search area should be 'disabled' or omitted from the page. Having it there generates false hope and confusion.
