Indiplon (Insomnia) [S G Cowen comments following Pfizer's analysts' presentation] Indiplon is a non-benzodiazapine GABA modulator that is in Phase III clinical studies. Positive Phase II data recently was presented at the APSS meeting. The results showed that Indiplon improved sleep efficiency by 80-81% at doses of 20, 30, and 35mg compared to placebo’s 74% (n=60; p<0.0001). PFE will position Indiplon immediate-release for patients with trouble falling asleep, and Indiplon modifiedrelease for sleep maintenance. Indiplon is not associated with hangover, a differentiating feature compared to existing hypnotics. Additionally, PFE reports that Indiplon is not associated with a loss of treatment effect. We forecast Indiplon sales at $100MM in 2005 and $600MM in 2007.
