So all we had to do was just set there, keep overflying, let the inspectors inspect and steadily increase their numbers and there would never be any "immediate threat" and few Iraqis would die, no Americans would lose their lives, Saddam would eventually implode, our credibility in the world would remain high and also the world would think we were clever and not just the town bully.

But then the selected one would never have been able to do his carrier photo op.
