Mike/All: Can you explain why importance is attached to the "jobless claims number" late in a recessionary environment such as this ? If I understand it correctly, it could fall for the simple reason that the benefits have run out for some of the longer term unemployed so they not longer can make a claim. If that is the case, then declines in this number would seem to be meaningless w/o pulling this information out. Obviously, I am missing something, can you explain where my reasoning has gone wrong ? Thanks Chris
