Sorry Raymond these explanations don't make sense to me. The cheapest way to make hydrogen, is to use heat, CH4 and water as ingredients (this is- I believe- how most hydrogen gas is usually produced commercially). Which brings up another question, why not just fill their balloons with CH4 (probably no shortage of that in Iraq). If one must use a chemical reaction, why not use something like sodium borohydride which releases hydrogen gas when mixed with water (no need for acid)? Why use a reaction using chemicals, like sulfuric acid and aluminum -both of which, probably must be imported?

And if you are making hydrogen has, why in a trailer with canvas sides? Canvas sides would make the device vulnerable to ground exploding artillery, why not have a canvas top and metal sides - this would also make any explosion (while cooking hydrogen) go up not sideways?

In Powell's speech, the trailers were joined side by side - like a triple wide trailer. In this senario, having canvas sides make sense. I've seen manufactured mobile homes being moved on the freeway before, and while they don't have canvas sides, they have plastic sheeting on the side.
