No one is taking from the poor. Arguably, it is the Democratic Party, through its anti- growth policies, that is the most "anti- poor", in any case. Practically ruining the Northwest timber industry to save the spotted owl is not exactly pro- labor, but destroys a lot of jobs. The yacht industry was devastated by the imposition of a 10% luxury tax on yachts. Whole tracts of land are protected against gas and oil exploration, primarily so that some yuppies can go camping, while the rest of the country worries over energy prices. Democratic mayors in cities like Washington D.C. played to the poor, feathered their nests, and drove out taxpayers. A welfare system was created that rewarded out- of- wedlock pregnancy, discouraged marriage, and had no incentives for workforce preparation, or seeking employment. I argue that the GOP is better for the poor, in the long run. Besides, Republicans contribute a lot to charity........ |
