I read recently that 15% of engineering jobs have left the US, either through evaporation or export. That's a huge crimp, and I do not believe it will reverse. If anything, I expect that exodus to accelerate for a while. My own pay has lost about 10% to inflation since my last raise, and I'm one of the lucky ones.
