From the June 16, 2003 LEH LNG Report:

"Once a LNG ship reaches the harbor of the receiving terminal, LNG ship channel traffic needs to be well timed. When a LNG tanker enters a harbor, all ship traffic is required to stop until the LNG tanker has released all of its flammable cargo and exited the harbor. We estimate it takes one to two days to unload, depending on the harbor."

What does this mean in the real world? Is it a big deal? Can anyone verify it? Who in the world would want to work, live, or play around one of these facilities? Who pays for this special privilege? Who pays for the security that is required when one of these ships enters the harbor? Do Coast Guard escorts enforce the requirements? Is the facility charged for this service, or is it provided at taxpayer expense?

So far I have more questions than answers about LNG. Am I alone in this regard, or do some of you have questions too?
