That's not what I meant. Of course, you're right. If God does not exist, that means that we (humanity) made Him up, which means we are free to portray Him however we want. If God does exist, He can be whatever He pleases. But we can't possibly know His true nature, so we're still free to portray Him however we want. I'm suggesting not that He can't do whatever He damned well pleases, if He exists, only that it's not constructive for humanity to portray him as taking sides in contests. Even those who believe that they have absolute knowledge of His nature should be able to recognize that they should exercise restraint in so stating.
