We were very late in getting a CD player, having purchased our first one around 1995/96, and the first thing that struck me was how "harsh" it made the Renaissance "albums" sound that we purchased in CD format to take the place of our old vinyl ones.... I'll take the sound of our old BIC turntable being amplified through my ancient Heathkit tuner/amp any day, especially since I have some fond memories of building out of a "thousand" pieces way back in 1976. <g>
