My school district spends $7,500 per year per student. One teacher or teacher's aid for every 5 students and still we have graduates who can't figure the change for a $10 on a $5 purchase. Worse, a friend taught his senior son how to do square roots with a pencil and paper because his son want's to be an engineer and the school only showed them how to do them on a calculator. My friend got called in to the principal's office and the principal threatened to expel his son if he taught him anything that wasn't covered in class.
