Maybe in college, but not in the earlier grades. John, do you teach a child to stay clear of standing in the freeway with cars coming, or do you set some parameters...??
And when they are older, do you just say "don't do drugs," or do you bring in examples of folks who do, and who don't?
Do you teach them about our laws and why they are there in the first place, or do you just let them run rampant, rioting, looting, burning up cities, destroying property, harming and/or killing people....?
Karen, that's precisely what we don't know and precisely what hyper patriots are more often guilty of. Kids learn not to express any criticisms of authority figures in school. That's bad for thinking. Thinking for yourself means you are free to arrive at your own thoughts, not just the presently approved thoughts. |
