Poland Springs sued over ads
wtnh.com

(Bridgeport-AP June 19, 2003 7:00 AM)_ A lawsuit has been filed in Bridgeport claiming that the ads for Poland Spring bottled water are false.

The lawsuit filed yesterday claims that Poland Spring bottled water isn't the pure spring water that is claimed in advertising.

The suit has been filed against Nestle Waters North America of Greenwich.

Nestle advertises that Poland Spring water comes from "some of the most pristine and protected sources deep in the woods of Maine."

The lawsuit says water comes from Maine, but doesn't meet the scientific definition for spring water. It alleges that some of the water comes from a well in a parking lot along a busy road.

Nestle Waters spokeswoman Jane Lazgin says the suit's allegations are unfounded. She says the company will defend its good name and the trust consumers have in the company.
