people have opinions and beliefs, they don't "know" anything. The world would be a whole lot better off if people comprehended that distinction...

...But it is wrong to insist on the truth of that or any other POV to the extent of arrogantly assuming it applies universally.


The idea that we are not certain about what we believe is different from the idea that ideas can not apply universally. The first idea just acknowledges our human limitations. The second asserts that not only can we not be sure what is right but that one idea can not be right or wrong any more then any other idea.
