Simply that some people "know" that God exists with the same degree of certainty that I "know" that I will get hurt if I put my hand on the burner.

If that is the case, they are ignorant and/or stupid. There is a difference between knowing you were born on June 13th and knowing that God exists. I take your point about the perspective that we don't know anything at all. But that is just an academic exercise. The distinction we make between knowing and believing is a function of objective evidence. You know when you inspect your burned hand that the cause was the stove. You believe that the sun will come up tomorrow.
