" The "kidnapping raids" were ordered by the UN. Our troops asked for some Bradley Fighting Vehicles and were turned down by Clinton."

They did not ask for Bradley's or tanks before the mission....the mission, like all their typical missions, was a quick hit and run attack on a building... check out "Blackhawk Down", by Mark Bowden. What you are referring to is in a blanket request for assets by the commanding general in the theater for tanks. Not necessarily to be used in this engagement but for his deployment when he felt they would be useful. Delta Force didn't normally use such support but the General had them on call from the Indian forces..... The hit and run attack was foiled by an RPG hit on a Blackhawk....rescue attempts resulted in another "Blackhawk Down" by another RPG. The rest is history.
