They want extra compassion because they are especially sentient beings, but at the same time, being held to a higher standard is grounds for allegations of anti-Semitism.


It is not so much that the Israelis are held to a higher standard. They hold themselves to a higher standard too. It is that their opponents are not held to any standards, as if Arabs were incapable of standards.
