Each passing day I find myself becoming more and more troubled by the accounts of the missing WMD. The question I keep asking myself is if this administration had no problems with skewing the intelligence to make it appear as though Iraq was swimming in a sea of smallpox and serin, why not just take the next step and manufacture the evidence too?

Here in Oregon we have a place called Umitilla Depot. It is a sprawling site of thousand of acres covered with bunkers full of bio-chemical rockets, bombs, raw materials, you-name-it. There is so much of this stuff there that the total amount may be even exceed that which Bush accused Saddahm Hussein of having.

Right now they are building a billion dollar incinerator to destroy this mess, but what occurs to me is that they could just as easily load it on sea-going barges, sail it down the Columbia to the ocean and straight to Iraq. And it would likely be relatively easy to do this covertly--they would not need all that much to make their case if you use by example the way the trumped up those two “chemical plant" trailers they found. The actual purpose of these trailers was more likely to produce an oxidizer agent for their rocket program which was allowed under the UN sanctions.

What I am wondering about this is, if they are going to let the opposition politicians rant and rail about the WMD right up until election time, and then the Army or CIA suddenly "discovers" an underground bunker in Baghdad with a couple of tons of Anthrax and a few rockets and bomb casings. This would certainly seem to prove their premise for the invasion and occupation, and there would be scant time to investigate the source of the WMD before the votes were, ahem, "counted" (?)

Am I just drifting off into the fog of self-generated conspiracy theories, or has anyone else considered this convolution as a pre-election strategy. I’d like to hear others opine on this concept.
