I wrote a response to this and it disappeared in cyberspace...I'll try again. Since several responses have been made about the politics of it...I'll look at another paragraph.

1. Anyone who thinks Germans eating meat (fleisch), sausage (aufschnitt), potatoes (kartoffeln), or cabbage (rotkohl), is spooky has never been to Germany.

2. The wall came down and opened the "new frontier". Housing was in short supply and much of the existing housing was in shambles. But, unlike West Germany, development land in the East was reasonable and plentiful. Apartment buildings did not have to built. Up to then, German and East-European construction technique was double-walled masonry...a very slow and expensive technique. Developers brought in American contractors to teach and build using frame construction. The lumber not harvested in Germany came from Austria and Eastern Europe. The result has been tens of thousands of frame style, starter homes and condos. Is that spooky? I thought it was doggone good business with winners at both ends.

3. Grass has been growing in Germany as far back as I remember. No spookiness there either.

4. Perhaps the writer is an unemployed ghostbuster.
