Moderate-progressive is where he stands, and is going to stay. He will also pick a running mate to the right of him.
Calling Bush a liar is not merely a liberal thing. Many moderates are now daring to call a spade a spade, and don't be surprised to hear some conservatives join the "did Bush lie?" prigades.
Remember, most Americans are somewhere near the middle, from Kerry to McCain let's call it. And if those people wake up and see Bushies for what they are, very right-wing and often deceitful, then along with the liberals, they can mass 60% of the vote against Bush in 2004. Bush is losing in the middle these days, though it hasn't quite shown up in the polls yet. That is where the battle will be, for the 20% of the voters in the middle. Bush owned them for awhile like his father did in 1991, but their support for Bush was quite temporary, dubuious and soft. They are there for the taking for a dynamic John Kerry who tells it like it is and gives them courage. |
