Govener of California would be a really thankless job now.

With Gray Davis, I thought we were getting real adult supervision. We got more fund raising than Bill Clinton. More important, he avoided tough issues (re: energy) hoping the problem would go away (aka "deer in the headlights") and then make reckless moves and plays blame game. Not that there wasn't enough blame, but if you don't fill out your car with gas before a long trip, you know yoiur going to pay higher prices at the gas station just off the interstate.

To grow out of its' mess, California will need to push the Federal government to control and pay for economic consequences of immigration.

There's also a huge need for cutting down the size of CA government.

And a real need to make it easier to build and develop - this requirees overriding many local governemnts and NIMBYs.

The only one the govener can really effect is the middle one.
