Kevin,
Just got off the phone with Larry Shatsoff. Here is how the pre-paid cell phone deal works. People will order their phones through various distribution points or by calling an 800 number. They will purchase the pre-paid minutes/hours in the same manner. AT&T will do all the tracking and simply reimburse DCI at the rate of $16.00 for every $100.00 of pre-paid phone time. Philips will be paid by simply getting a percentage of cost of buying the privilege card that is purchased when getting the free cell phone.
DCI will also be retailing and wholesaling the sale and servicing of their pre-paid cell phones to numerous other entities that are not related to the Privilege Card.
I asked about the possibility of a problem in filling orders if the reaction to this program is heavy. I was told that Philips has the capacity to manufacture and ship up to 75,000 cell phones per week. Hope I have been of help in answering your questions.
