You're absolutely correct, but if you don't establish a common reference point of what constitutes "good" then it becomes pointless to answer the question.

I don't see why. Different people have different opinions about what things are good and why, that doesn't mean there is no use in talking about what things you think are good.

It's not a lot different than asking...Is weather good or bad, yes or no?

Which is also not a stupid question. It does require certain assumptions however. It might be stupid to ask that question over SI because people are in different places and may not know where everyone else lives. But you can often get enough context from the person who is asking the question. If your going to a baseball game with someone tomorrow and he asks if the weather is going to be good its doubtful that by good he means heavy rain.

Globalization is a rather complex issue but its effects don't vary as much from place to place as the weather. It does hurt some people and places in some ways and help some people and place in other ways but one can reasonably have and state an opinion of how beneficial its overall effects are without having to get agreement on what criteria should be used for a good thing. If you and Laz use different criteria then you might come up with different conclusions but that doesn't prevent you from talking about the subject.
