It appears to be the case that the sun revolves around the earth. The 411 is that it isn't so, though. There were orbital anomalies that tipped people off, and the question was whether Ptolemy was right in accounting for the anomalies, or was the heliocentric hypothesis better? Better data supported Copernicus.
