I would just like to spread the idea that, perhaps, just maybe, further preemptive Fed easings here are dangerous, and the Fed should be discouraged from more ease. Rather than viewing it as a pre-emptive attack on deflation, it should be viewed as wasting a precious, dwindling store of stimulus. We should be taking a pre-emptive attack on the supply/demand imbalance instead. That is the real problem, and time is running out to address it under controllable circumstances.

I'm trying to edit a version of that piece to submit to our Oregonian for the day of the Fed rate cut.
