If so, we're closer to the financial day of reckoning than I thought. Obviously, there's no way out of that support once you start it, but I doubt that will slow them down. If it were used to spread out the supply/demand rebalancing over a period of a few years rather than letting it occur all at once, I could support it, but it will probably be used to attempt to prevent the rebalancing from happening at all.

I sincerely doubt they will give up on "unconventional" liquidity measures, though. The inevitable rebalancing of supply and demand will be fought tooth and nail. It is just too politically devastating to stand by and just "do nothing". There is too much pressure to do something, even if it only makes things worse.
