Kenneth,
I don't believe they will return in the very near future. I think, especially in light of the TWA crash - no cause having yet been determined - that the FAA will be very slow to return them to the air. If they were to do so,
and another accident were to occur with them, there would be calls for FAA heads on a platter. In addition, if
they were to allow VJET into the air, and the cause of the TWA crash was determined to be mechanical in
nature, those same call for FAA heads would also arise. The industry would come under intense pressure to
improve safety ASAP.
My personal best guess is that if the TWA crash is determined to be the act of a terrorist then VJET has a
chance to get back into the air sometime this year - but not August. If the cause of the TWA crash is
mechanical in nature then my bet is we will not ever see them again. They won't be able to hold out long
enough to convince a gun shy FAA that they should be allowed to fly. -Keith-
