Most of the people we get from Mexico haven't finished high school. Anyone from Mexico with a useful degree gets in with an immigration layer, not by sneaking over the border.

With about 4-5 million illegal Mexicans vs. a population of about 75 million in Mexico, the ones who go to the US are only slightly better than average.

Significant fraction are barely literate.

This isn't like the escapees from East Germany during the Cold War.

Having worked in Silicon Valley, I tend to get used to seeing the high end of the immigrant population.
Reality is much more mixed.
