Yes. They do have alternatives. Trees are already farmed. Leave these monuments alone and keep farming. Would you stripmine Yosemite or the Grand Canyon? Can't some of nature's grandeur be left in peace? This goes way back- -the '60s, I believe. Whale oil was being used to lubricate some components of the boosters used for manned space flight. An issue was made of it and it ended up before a Congressional committee. One of the Congresscritters asked the manufacturer "What will you do when the last whale is killed and there is no more whale oil?" The manufacturer answered "Find a substitute." The Congresscritter asked "Why don't you find it now?"
