michael, such conquests tend to be seen as 'mean spirited' by some party in each case, quite inevitably .... often it seems to be the conquered, for some reason
The whole idea of Judenstadt, of 'a state as jewish as England is english', and presumably of a size to accomodate millions, means that a fair sized bloc of land had to be taken from somebody else, because there was no inhabitable 'land without a people' anywhere on this planet in the year 1900
There is a jew living not far from here, he's from Kansas and came here as what he considered to be an alternative superior to going to Viet Nam, he doesn't think much of the Judenstadt idea, figures it is not the way, causes more problems than it could ever possibly solve .... especially located where is the present one, on muslim lands
South America - yes i dimly recall that there had been some talk of that, but wasn't it later, into the 1930s at least? .... a number of south american countries were actively looking for immigrants with capital behind them, to develop hinterlands .... just a guess, but chances are the existing nation would have wanted to retain sovereignty over the area, so it wouldn't have been a 'jewish state', but a 'jewish province' ..... there are large communities of jews in SA, for instance a notable one in Caracas
'Leon Uris, author of the book Exodus, passed away today, at the age of xx' - just came across CBC radio here .... cheers |
