I do not consider, as I have made clear, the People to be an oracular final arbiter. I consider it inconclusive evidence, in fact, knowing the limits of public knowledge and judiciousness. I also think it is ludicrous to pretend that the Administration has sole access to the "microphones", or that opposition makes no impression. There was a debate, the Administration won. You may consider it a propaganda victory, and perhaps it was. But with all the cavilling at ever little assertion made by the Administration, I consider it a matter of "whom do you trust?", and your side lost.........
