'1967 borders are a good start.' - well i don't think i'd use the adjective 'good' there, nor the term 'start', because today cannot reasonably be declared as the beginning of the story .... 1967 borders look like they'd be the least bad next step, is how i'd put it
'No one would take them in en masse.' - well, 'en masse' is a bit much, don't you think ... and the ones who looked for options other than those of the zionist recruiters, and came to the Americas, or who stayed in Europe, have done quite well, caused far fewer problems .... with the possible exception in the latter aspect of a few now influential in Washington
But agreed, Israel is now a fait accompli, a fact on the ground
As a permanently exclusionary Judenstadt, though? .... you're not going to like hearing this, but many think that quality of the state could be re-examined .... look at the map, it's a beachhead pointed at Mecca, they have fences over which refugees can look, to see their lands now occupied by others, who've arrived under a 'right of return' - from other continents[!]
There was already way too much religion in this area, inserting another that is hostile to the existing one, and with clear territorial ambition, was never a bright idea ..... as Steven points out so eloquently, violence was inherent in this, from the very beginning
So, take the religion out of it .... maybe start up a new religion, under which all people are equal, because so many seem to need a packaged structure of belief, but keep it completely out of the structure of the state ..... it has been claimed that Israel is a 'secular' state, and in many respects they have tried to be, but it all breaks down when somebody from Gorkiy has a 'right of return', while the indigenous have the right only to look over the fence
There are no indigenous to the area posting here, i doubt if any lurk, or ever will ..... were there some, i'd take a different tack, because they are screwing up for sure, not handling this well ... but one thing would remain the same - Take the religion out of it, and get real |
