Hi M~ Win posted a NYT story about the Tuwaitha situation...Was going to write this to him, but knew I'd only get a trite answer if I was lucky....so maybe you can help answer my thoughts here....

Re: Iraqi's and the nuclear sites....What is wrong with this picture...???

1) Iraqi's live in Iraq. Most have for years. Most of the villagers in the area know what is going on in an area. (Many of the articles tell us that all the time as a reason that maybe there weren't WMD...they seem to indicate the villagers would know where they were...if they were there.)

2) Are the Iraqis' smart and educated, even in the villages? Or are they stupid, and uneducated. ?? Most articles I've read say they are smart and educated.

3) The article says since the 1970's, Tuwaitha is known as a nuclear area.

The people in the area MUST know about the nuclear area.
The people in the area MUST know how to read signs that say "keep out."

4) The article says that the 'allied forces passed the area on their way to Baghdad.

5) If the people/villagers in the Tuwaitha area KNEW it was a nuclear area, since the 1970's, per the NYT article....then WHY WOULD THEY GO INTO THE AREA, BREAK OPEN THE SEALED DOORS, AND GET THE BARRELS and BRING THEM HOME TO USE? AFTER DUMPING WHATEVER LIQUID WAS IN THEM....?????

6) This story doesn't add up.....either the people there are dumb, and uneducated, couldn't read signs, didn't know what was there FOR 33 years!!!, etc.....or ...

Perhaps someone else broke open the seals, and left the villagers to get them.

Why aren't the journalists asking these questions???? And worse yet, why aren't the folks reading these articles, asking the questions as well....???
