No you're missing the point that relevance to the point at hand is secondary to the egoic need to have something to say. <NFG>

I think its very relevant to point out that we don't live in a static world where petroleum, which is extremely important today, will be extremely important 5,10 or 100 years from now. How can that not be relevant to a discussion about the effect of energy on economic growth? If controlled fusion hits breakeven in the next five years oil is rendered irrelevant overnight and most of that oil in the ground will never get lifted. What one has to wonder is, do people really think they're going to be driving a gasoline powered car 50 years from now or even 20 years from now? If you believe that you are ignoring history.
