The idea that the Jews had the upper hand is amusing. At any time, a concerted and competent effort by the Arab powers could have destroyed it. It is only fortunate that they were not particularly competent, and began to lose interest. In any event, it is strange to call people oppressors who are desperate to staunch the flow of blood caused by their enemies. Context matters.......
