and if you don't mind my disagreeing with you on another point... i think greenspan fears ensuing inflation more than deflation. price deflation from lower oil prices is almost a given if oil drops to the mid 20's. however, the more important concern is the potential for tax cuts and interest rate cuts to heat up the economy over the next 9-12 months. i think the real reason for the rhetoric is the more he "jawbones" about potential deflation, the easier it is to keep long-term interest rates down....
