Your position reminds me of the WorldWatch report I read many years ago- ie technology improvements offset resource availabilty declines. Do you have any thoughts on the proposed subsidy of additional Nukes (loan guarantees) included in the Energy bill? I understand they are planing a test/pilot plant in Idaho that would generate Hydrogen as part of the process. There is a short 10 page or so presentation from ETR on this here: entergy.com[Read-Only].pdf Tippet correctly asserts that Hydrogen is only an energy store, not source. Yet per the slides above, using hydrogen to modify gasoline would have quite an impact... Adding just 5% hydrogen to gasoline can increase gas mileage AND lower emissions by 30-40% Without much knowledge at all, I suggested off peak baseload capacity could be used to 'store' energy in the form of hydrogen. I understand right now, most hydrogen is created by stripping natural gas of C, which must be more expensive these days...
