UPDATE 2-Ebay approves increase in stock option pool
6/26/2003 12:08:53 PM

By Ben Berkowitz

ORLANDO, June 26 (Reuters) - Shareholders in Internet auctioneer eBay Inc. (EBAY) on Thursday approved a plan to increase the company's stock option pool by more than 50 percent, a move that had been opposed by a major pension fund.

At its annual shareholder meeting, held in a hotel ballroom here, the company said shareholders also approved the reelection of two directors and the ratification of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP as eBay's auditors.

Calpers, the California Public Employees' Retirement System, which is the nation's largest pension fund, said in mid-June it would oppose as excessive the 56 percent expansion of the option pool to 39 million shares from 25 million.
