They voted individually on the schools. From what I understand, Miami passed, and VT passed (with the yes from Casteen), but the others did not.

They got to the other two schools (BC and Cuse) and neither one of them could pass the 7 votes required. I am still trying to figure out who, in addition to UNC and Duke would vote against either school, and I think it was NC State, but am not sure.

This puts the ACC is a pretty good position IMO. They can take their time and evaluate who might be the 12th team (probably going to pursue ND first). They can also petition the NCAA to allow a championship game with just 11 teams, which allows them to keep more money for each school, but still doesn't allow divisions. So for 2004-2005, they'll probably play without divisions like the Big 10 (11).

All in all, one of the best days in VT history.
