Many of us would of course have supported action in re Iraq if the DC bunch had treated us like human beings and made a case for it, cooperatively designed a plan for it .... but they didn't, so screw em, they could have had our sword arms, now they just get the finger

Oh come one Marcos.. Chretien had already made up his mind to follow Chirac's lead. There was nothing the US could do, except submit to some form of economic extortion as attempted by Turkey.

There was more than sufficient cause to overthrow Saddam. Some 17 different causes called binding UN resolutions, which Canada (and so many others) chose not to enforce. It took the lead of the US and UK to finish Desert Storm since it's obvious Saddam never planned on abiding by the cease fire terms he allegedly agreed to.

Heck.. we've had years of violations from Saddam. There was never an "inspection" process... It was a game of "find the needle in a haystack", or "cat and mouse" that Saddam would have played forever until we all got tired of trying to contain him any longer. The gas centrifuges buried in the Iraqi scientist's backyard is CLEAR EVIDENCE that Saddam had violated the terms of the cease fire.

And when someone violates a cease-fire, it generally means the re-intiation of hostilities.
