CB, this discussion is fruitless, we've been over it. Moreover, you know perfectly well that the Zionists never came in waving the Bible as deed - the persuaded the British, who ruled the place, to write the Balfour Declaration letting them settle, and bought the land they settled, at good prices. The Arab landowners were not too outraged by the idea to sell!
The US Constitution is the supreme act of legislative will of the people
Oh, suddenly it's not just "feelings", it's "legislative will". Well the Torah and the Talmud (written and oral Jewish law) certaily classify as "legislative will" if anything does, and the memories of Judea, and Judean legal precedent, and attachment to Judea and the wish to return to Judea run through every page.
I never said it was a deed. There are rabbis who do. But you cannot just dismiss it, anymore than you can dismiss the American attachment to the Constitution (as most Europeans do - their constitutions being recent in origin and easily changeable). |
