Hence my disgust at the IDF deliberately blowing up an apartment building in the middle of the night, while kids were sleeping, and deliberately blowing up a car with a Hamas member, his pregnant wife, and their young children.

In both cases the IDF expressed regret and blamed faulty intelligence. I have heard, and believe, enough people who work on theses strike say that they have held back from good opportunities many times because of women and children in the area.

Of course, the IDF's choice is to let Hamas plan its attacks in safety. When Hamas attacks, women and children are not collateral damage, they are the targets. So yes, Israel chooses the likelihood that Palestinian women and children will die, when weighed against the greater likelihood that large numbers of Israeli women and children will die.

If Hamas was trying to suicide-bomb your children, what would you choose?
