If memory serves, you were given the reasons for your previous suspension, only to do the same thing again only a few days after the suspension expired. Didn't feel repeating myself was necessary and you'd get the idea.
For those who are looking through his posts to see why he was suspended, the post was deleted. Basically a post that had *nothing* but personal-attack content. Specifically just saying that someone's a "pompous asshole".
it seems like something that would be done in a country run by a dictator rather than what we are used to here in a relatively free, democratic society.
A little fuzzy on the whole democracy/dictatorship/country/website thing?
First, the site is international in scope. That the servers reside in the Kansas City area is about the most "American" thing about it. That and being operated by Americans, for the most part. A Canadian handles ad sales, eh.
Anyway, knowing how widespread our userbase is always makes me chuckle when Americans assume everyone on the site is American or that, by dint of its physical location, we're required to run it the way the American government is required to run.
Second, though vulgarity and personal attacks are allowed in America and most if not all other countries, they're not allowed here. I really don't think that's a secret.
Third, and I always cringe when I have to say this, but it's accurate even if not often well-received: This site is not a democracy. If anything, it's a benign dictatorship. Everyone's left the heck alone until they break the rules, and when that happens there's no jury trial and no vote.
I'll make you a deal. Same deal that's implied with everyone that uses the site: Quit engaging in profanity and personal attacks and I'll quit suspending you. That it's happening on a thread that's pretty much nothing but heated arguing would mitigate it somewhat, but not when you write something that's not heated arguing but instead a blatant personal attack and nothing more.
