Hello Mike and Pompsander...I'll chime a bit...seems to me the litigation issue was discussed at length and one of the pervasive complaints was why didn't Gemstar pursue patent protection for more than the three(??)against SFA when they had hundreds. I also remember many people touting Henry's "damn the torpedoes" approach and proclaiming him too smart or too tough for Murdoch/Malone.

So, cooking the books was at best misleading and, in my opinion criminal. Those making investment decisions on what appeared to be a tornado or at least a winnowing of the bowling alley was based upon data provided by the company. To illustrate the yardstick was bent; and I hardly think investors are to blame when they're making decisions with a bent measuring instrument, but have no way(a limited way?) to calibrate the measurement. To further elaborate Henry AND the accounting firms failed in their feduciary obligations to first each other (in the data or interpretation of data exchanged) and subsequently to share holders. FWIW I still hold GMST in three different accounts.

Best to you,
TRIO
