Grey Davis was blind-sided by sophisticated thieves with powerful, close White House connections. Enron and others were Bush's #1 allies and contributors.

Davis suddenly had two choices, pass along 500% increases to consumers or make a bad longterm energy deal. There was no other choice. And he had to make the decision right away. It was a terrible dilemma. His decision, as bad as it seems now, was neither stupid or corrupt. He was trying to pick the lesser of two evils. At the time most people agreed it was the right decision, including Republicans.

Davis went to the new Bush-Cheney administration for help, but they basically laughed at him. They refused to help and let the Enron energy thieves keep ripping off California and the nation for 5 months after they assumed power. Bush-Cheney also blamed the crisis on environmentalists and told us we needed 1300 new power plants ASAP to be paid for by the tax-payers, contracts going to Halliburton, Bectel etc. tens of billions they greedily wanted to lock down.

Not once did Bush-Cheney tell us the truth or lift a finger to help consumers. In fact they lied, deflected and refused to help. Bush-Cheney had total power over these crony energy companies. Like the Godfather has over Mafia hitmen. They could have stopped them any time but didn't until the Jeffords party switch suddenly terrified them as they knew Dems now had subpoena powers to investigate Bush-Cheney connections. Which could have meant impeachment.

Cheney was then sued for his energy papers by the GAO as the prices dropped sharply and energy surpluses suddenly appeared. Cheney stonewalled the court orders and subpoenas, refusing to obey the laws and citing executive privilege as Nixon did.

It wasn't until they used the Iraq War (for oil) to take the senate that he was completely safe from having to show his evidence. Enron and others shredded thousands of documents. Evidence was clearly destroyed. Ed Gillespie ran a 6 million dollar disinformation campaign for Enron and the GOP trying to blame it on Davis. It was all smoke and mirrors and the perps blaming the victim.

This is all FACT whether you like it or not.

If you dont know and understand the greedy for oil and power of the Houston Gang you have never lived there or studied the local philosophy. Oilmen have always been unscrupulous and quick to grab bucks any way they can. But never before did they have a oil ticket in the White House and go much to gain by cheating big-time, knowing the White House would protect them. As they have.
