I lived in Colo for 6 years....Basalt.......and I've missed it every day since I moved back "home."

We ate spam when we were growing up too. When it was Dad's turn to cook, he would fry spam, open a can of beans and heat that up and call it dinner. I admit I haven't eaten spam since those days. Another interesting meal was Dad's tamales. He would make a batch of Krustez pancakes, heat a can of chili and put the chili down the center of the pancake. Put on some diced onion and shredded cheddar, roll them up, and voile'..........tamales. I don't eat that any more either. He was most famous for his German Dumplings meal, but I don't know anyone that would like that other than my immediate family.

Your grandmothers sandwich sounds just wonderful. Do you ever try to duplicate it?
